NutriPaws AI ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how we handle your data — including data processed by artificial intelligence features. Please read this policy carefully before using our app.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account Information: Email address, display name, and profile photo (if provided) when you create an account.
- Pet Profiles: Pet names, species, breed, age, weight history, health notes, feeding logs, and photos you upload to your pet's profile.
- Usage Data: Anonymous analytics data to understand how features are used and to improve the app.
- Subscription Data: Purchase and subscription status managed via RevenueCat. We do not store payment card information.
2. AI Features & Google Gemini API
AI Provider Disclosure
NutriPaws AI uses the Google Gemini API to power the following features: AI Vet Assistant chat, food analysis (meal scanning), stool health analysis, and Body Condition Score (BCS) image analysis.
Each AI feature sends a different scope of data to the Google Gemini API. The table below details exactly what is transmitted per feature:

Your account credentials (email, password, user ID) and location data are never sent to Google Gemini under any circumstances. Pet health data sent with AI Chat requests is used solely to personalize responses for your specific pet and is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
3. Photo & Image Data — Zero Persistence Policy
Photos Are Never Stored for AI Analysis
- Photos you submit for AI analysis (food scan, stool scan, BCS analysis) are processed entirely in-memory during the active session.
- These images are never uploaded to our servers and are never saved to your device's permanent storage.
- When the app is closed or the analysis session ends, the image data is immediately cleared from memory.
- We retain zero copies of photos submitted for AI analysis.
This zero-persistence policy applies exclusively to images used for AI analysis. Photos you intentionally add to your pet's gallery or profile within the app are stored in Firebase Cloud Storage under your account, as described in Section 4.
4. Account Data & Firebase Storage
Pet profiles, health logs, weight history, feeding records, and photos you save to your pet's gallery or profile are securely stored in Google Firebase (Firestore and Cloud Storage), linked to your account.

5. AI Chat History & Local Cache
Conversation history in the AI Vet Assistant is stored only as a temporary local cache on your device. This cache exists solely to provide context for the current or recent conversation sessions. It is not synced to our servers and not shared with any third party.
The local chat cache is automatically deleted when you:
- Manually clear the chat history within the app.
- Uninstall the application.
6. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account and pet profiles.
- To provide AI-powered nutrition recommendations, health tracking, and analysis features.
- To manage subscription status and unlock Pro features.
- To send push notifications (reminders, shared-pet activity) if you have opted in.
- To improve app features using anonymized, aggregated analytics.
7. Third-Party Services
- Google Firebase: Authentication, Firestore database, and Cloud Storage for account and pet data.
- Google Gemini API: AI analysis and chat features. Only isolated prompts or images are transmitted; no PII is included.
- RevenueCat: Subscription and in-app purchase management.
- Google Sign-In / Apple Sign-In: OAuth authentication — we only receive a user ID and email from these providers.
8. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data to any third party. Your data is shared only as described in Section 7 (with service providers essential to app functionality) and never for advertising or marketing purposes. Your pet health data is private to your account.
9. Your Rights & Data Control
- Access & Correction: You can view and edit your profile and pet data at any time within the app.
- Deletion: You can permanently delete your account and all associated data from Settings → Profile → Delete Account. This removes all Firestore data, Cloud Storage files, and your Firebase Auth record.
- Data Export: Contact us at support@pawbuddy.ai to request a copy of your data.
- Opt-Out of Analytics: You may opt out of anonymous analytics in the app settings.
10. Data Retention
Account and pet data is retained while your account is active. When you delete your account, all personal data is permanently removed within 30 days. AI analysis images are never retained on our servers and chat history is cleared locally as described in Section 5.
11. Children's Privacy
NutriPaws AI is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
12. Security
We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted data transmission (TLS), Firebase Security Rules, and Firebase Authentication to protect your data. No method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure; we take all reasonable steps to protect your information.
13. International Users
Our app is available worldwide. Data stored in Firebase may be processed on servers in various regions consistent with Google's infrastructure. By using the app, you consent to this cross-border processing.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app or by email. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
